Trevor was born in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland but he spent some early years of his life in Houston B.C. where his parents worked in the forest industry. Then he moved back to Newfoundland where he was raised and began his education where he received a Bachelor of Arts from the Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1997 and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan – College of Law in 2000.
Trevor’s ties to the B.C. northern interior remained strong, so much so that he sought out and accepted an articling position with Wilson King & Company (now Wilson King LLP) in Prince George in 2001. Trevor accepted a job as an associate lawyer at Wilson King in 2002 and he practiced primarily in the areas of Wills / Estates and Business Law until 2007.
In July 2007, Trevor realized his dream of opening his own firm, and together with his partner, Mitch Houg, they opened Houg Slaney Lawyers. Trevor has continued to maintain a very busy and fulfilling practice split between wills and estates and business law.
Trevor has enjoyed playing senior men’s soccer and coaching minor soccer. He enjoys various other athletic endeavors, including beating his partner Mitch on the tennis court, running with his daughters and shooting hoops with his son. Trevor is a long time member of the Prince George Estate Planning Council and is a long time member, and Past President, of the Prince George Gyro Club. Trevor is a past director of the Prince George Spruce Kings Hockey Club and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.
